3 min read

It is not surprising that crossbreed dogs are gaining popularity in recent years. Their cute looks and intelligence have made them the first choice for many dog owners. The Australian Labradoodle is one such breed that will fast become your family member. These hybrid dogs are delightful creatures. They are fitter and are mentally happier than other breeds.

Height and weight of Australian Labradoodle

There are two variants of Australian Labradoodle that you may choose from: the standard and the miniature. Standard male Australian Labradoodles weigh around 55 to 77 pounds while the females weigh approximately 45 to 60 pounds. Their average height is nearly 22 to 24 inches. The miniature variant, on the other hand, weighs 30 to 50 pounds and their height varies from 17 to 22 inches.

One of the reasons why the Australian Labradoodle is a trending breed is because of their looks. They have a teddy bear face with a fluffy coat. Their big, round eyes are so attractive that you will fall in love at first sight. They are very friendly with new people they meet, and that’s why they are often used to treat patients suffering from panic, anxiety, and depression attacks.

Health of Australian Labradoodle

Experts believe that Australian Labradoodles have better health compared to other breeds. Their lifespan ranges between 13 and 15 years. However, your Australian Labradoodle may suffer from occasional health problems. Here are some of the issues you should be aware of:

• Progressive retinal atrophy – over the years, your Australian Labradoodle’s retina may degenerate. This leads to vision loss and blindness.
• Hip dysplasia – this is a widespread problem among crossbreeds. There is an abnormal formation of their hip socket. This causes arthritis and lameness. Your Australian Labradoodle will become slower and would sit in the house throughout the day.
• Von Willebrand’s Disease – this is an inherited disease where blood clotting causes hemorrhage in the doggo’s brain.

Temperament of Australian Labradoodle

Australian Labradoodles are excellent with kids. They will take care of them, play with them, and be their guardian when you are away. However, you need to train it accordingly. They are eager learners and would love when you spend time with them. These dogs are very talented, joyful, and can outsmart other dogs with their wit. However, some of them may have behavioral issues if you don’t pay attention to them when you are home. You should always take them for a walk or play with them every day. Additionally, you can train them to be more disciplined.

Many Australian Labradoodle owners take them jogging in the park. They love to play fetch the ball. So, don’t forget to spend enough time with them outdoors. You can even take them for a swim in your swimming pool. But make sure you pat them dry after coming out of the pool because they may get ear infections if there is water inside their ear for many weeks.

The bottom line is, an Australian Labradoodle is a welcome addition to any family. Get one for your kids, and your parents and you will have a lovely time together.
